This Saturday was another powerful reminder of why we do what we do — showing love and support is the heart of Bridging The Gap Youth Program.

We explored the future through conversations about the Metaverse, shared how our youth are building their dreams through technology and creativity, and gave away ROBLOX gift cards to spark imagination and digital learning! 🕹️💡

🎟️ Our raffles were a hit (as always!)
🍽️ The food was amazing
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families spent quality time together
🎉 And most importantly — the kids had an AWESOME time!

Honoring my grandmother Mary Cameron’s memory on Mother’s Day by giving away hats was a healing experience. One of the recipients reminded me that it’s the thought that counts, not the quantity, and that truly resonated with me. Seeing others smile and feeling the energy of giving was incredibly uplifting. I’m grateful for the insight to continue celebrating my grandmother’s love and legacy, even after her passing. She was an extraordinary woman who embodied strength, kindness, and compassion, and I feel blessed to have had her in my life. Her teachings on spreading love and kindness continue to inspire me. ❤️🙏🏾💪🏽 #BridgingTheGap

This was a remarkable opportunity for BridgingThe Gap! We were honored to be invited to the YouthBuild Graduation, celebrating young people who have worked tirelessly to earn their GED. This group of young achievers holds a special place in my heart and within our organization, as they have overcome obstacles to reach their goals and truly deserve community recognition. Although I initially thought I didn’t know anyone in the graduating class, I was thrilled to discover a familiar face and offer support to a young man who otherwise would have been without representation. Thanks to Bridging The Gap, we were even able to send him a CashApp gift to ensure he felt celebrated alongside his peers. It’s a powerful reminder that we never know where life will lead us, and that our presence can make a profound difference. ❤️🙏🏾💪🏽 #BridgingTheGap

Volunteering for Youth at Local Community Centers: Bridging the Gap

We often speak about the youth — about the violence, the hurt, the challenges they face. But the real question is: What are we doing to truly bridge the gap?

Volunteering at local community centers is one of the most powerful and direct ways to make a difference. These centers are more than just buildings — they are safe havens, learning spaces, and creative outlets for youth who may not have guidance at home or access to positive role models. When we show up, we bring more than our time — we bring hope, mentorship, and opportunity.

Our young people need to see that their community cares. They need mentors, tutors, artists, coaches, and listeners. They need to know that someone believes in their future. Volunteering isn’t just about giving back — it’s about planting seeds, shifting narratives, and creating a culture of support and accountability.

If we truly want to see change, we must be willing to be part of that change. Let’s stop just talking about the youth and start showing up for them. Let’s start Bridging The Gap — one hour, one connection, and one young life at a time.

The fact that it’s not being utilized for the benefit of the entire community is something I guess it’s time to fight for; it’s 3.4 million STEM and Innovation jobs and opportunities that are not being filled by our students. They have been hiring people from other countries because our students are not being exposed properly. Even AI, something that could really help us, is not being taught.
